ARTIST'S STATEMENT

This body of work consists of painted landscapes constructed from my
imagination. In them are lodged elements that interest me, some realistic,
and some imagined. When combined they create landscapes that take
place at the intersection of reality and fantasy.

A place where trees coexist with impasto paint blobs, and decoration
sprouts along with the grass. A land where colors resonate and paint
becomes as much of a subject as nature itself.

The disparate qualities within the paintings cause the viewer to pause and
question their discord, while simultaneously being engaged by their beauty.

These half-imagined, half-realistic environments are familiar and yet
mysterious, disquieting, but yet comforting. With them I strive to make the
familiar extraordinary.
